Following the introduction of the Saskatchewan Employment Act, which came into force on April 29, 2014, and amendments to the essential services provisions of the Saskatchewan Employment Act that came into force on January 1, 2016, CUPE locals can consult the following updated helpful resources: Members are employed in hospitals, health centres, long-term care facilities and home care. They fulfill a variety of roles, including nutrition, laundry and housekeepers, licensed practical nurses, radiology and laboratory technicians, housekeeping staff, cleaners, office workers and practical nurses. Negotiating strong contracts for members is what CUPE does best. The solidarity of our members is at the heart of our bargaining power and allows profits. Together, we have built strong communities and achieved better wages, benefits, pensions and fair treatment of workers. CUPE represents approximately 13,600 employees in the Prairie North Health Region, Prince Albert Parkland Health Region, Regina Qu`Appelle Health Region, Sun Country Health Region and Sunrise Health Region. .
